Renault executives confirm that Duster will soon become an electrified brand. This is a disclosure made by Renault Europa President Philippe Bouros. It also says the zero-emission Duster will use Renault's technology.
When asked when the electric version will be ready, buros did not say a specific date: "I think in two or three years we will be able to implement our own project." The need for electrification arose because the new pollution regulations require a lower level of safety at the range level, as well as because many customers are looking for an affordable electric model, and Duster will meet their requirements.
When asked if Duster and other technologies will be taken over from Renault, he said that auto-start features are not included in the car group's plans.
"Our clients are not asking for this yet. Their needs are much simpler: they want to get from point A To point B. and for this they need air conditioning, power Windows, a servo motor, but they don't want the car to go by itself, because they know that this will not happen if the car costs 10,000 euros," explained the President of Renault Europa.
A viable solution, which is also associated with low cost, is to adapt the Renault City K-ZE, currently built and sold in China, to the requirements of the European automotive industry. Renault has already confirmed that the City K-ZE version will also arrive in Europe in the near future.
